Your shave brush has been on the front lines.
Every morning it battles soap residue, hard water minerals, skin oils, and whatever else your sink throws at it. Little by little that buildup accumulates deep inside the knot, slowly robbing your brush of the very qualities you paid for in the first place. Softer tips become stiff. Lather becomes sluggish. The whole brush begins to feel...older.
Fortunately, we've developed a remedy.
Project: Brush Soap
Over the years I've tried just about everything. Makeup brush cleaners, homemade recipes, specialty cleaners, and countless combinations mixed in my own workshop. Many worked reasonably well.
This worked better.
Built around two time-tested ingredients, Sodium Borate (Borax) and White Vinegar, Brush Soap attacks the soap scum, mineral deposits, and hidden buildup that quietly accumulate with every shave. It's a simple formula built on chemistry that has stood the test of time.
Then we decided to improve the delivery system.
Hidden Surface Area
At first glance the shape raises an eyebrow.
Those little rounded nubs aren't decorative. They're engineering. By dramatically increasing the available surface area, they allow the soap to load faster while gently working between the bristles instead of flattening them against a traditional puck. The result is quicker cleaning with far less twisting and tangling, especially with natural hair brushes.
Could I have poured this into a five-inch tin and called it a day?
Absolutely.
Instead, I wanted something compact that actually performed better. If you flattened every one of those little "fingers" into a conventional puck, the surface area would extend well beyond five inches in diameter. More exposed soap means more efficient cleaning without wasting shelf space.
Sometimes the future looks a little strange, eh?
Fast Enough for Everyday Use
Brush Soap wasn't designed for annual deep cleaning. It was designed to make cleaning so quick that you'll actually do it. (but an annual cleaning should still be considered!)
Whether you're restoring a neglected vintage brush or simply cleaning today's shave, the process takes only a few minutes. Cleaning five brushes in under ten minutes is entirely realistic, and keeping your favorite daily driver in peak condition becomes almost effortless.
Smells Like a Proper Barbershop Because Cleaning your brush shouldn't smell like a chemistry lab.
Instead, Brush Soap is scented with our homage to Aqua Velva Ice Blue, Sacré Bleu. The result is bright, clean, nostalgic, and unmistakably barbershop. (or at the very least that scent of dad)

Every wet shaver knows the moment. You unwrap a beautiful new badger brush and immediately wonder if something died in the box. (yep, you paid for that)
However, that unmistakable "new badger funk" doesn't have to linger! Follow the directions on the package and Brush Soap helps accelerate the process, getting your new brush into regular rotation much sooner!
Also Included
Every puck includes a durable, classic, non-breakable plastic comb for gently working through the knot during cleaning, along with a resealable storage bag to keep everything tidy between uses.
Not Just for Shave Brushes
Brush Soap has quietly become a favorite outside the shaving den as well.
Its gentle but effective formula works wonderfully on makeup brushes, making it one of those rare products that tends to disappear from your cabinet from time to time.
Instructions
Step 1
Wet both the brush and Brush Soap with warm water. Load the brush using a gentle figure-eight motion thru the "fingers" for 10 to 15 seconds, then reverse direction.
Step 2
Using the included comb, gently work through the bristles with the wide-tooth side while rinsing under warm running water. Never force the comb through stubborn tangles.
Step 3 (Optional)
Before the final rinse, build a quick lather in a bowl or mug. Brush Soap isn't intended to replace your shave soap, but this extra step helps work the cleaner deep into the knot before the final rinse.
Because even the finest shaving brush deserves the occasional trip through the Phoenix Research Laboratory.
